I am a Morgan lover, trainer, advocate, voice, horsewoman, show supporter, pleasure supporter, breeder, full time wife and mother of two.

My name is Colleen (Bernaby) Saint Loup and my passion is horses. My career in horses started in MA in the Morgan horse industry. I have over 20 years horse experience. I have worked under many nationally recognized Morgan horse show trainers. I have had two seasons training on my own, managing a head of 40 horses, instructing all ages in riding/driving and competing at shows.

I have experience in all styles of riding. It is not about the type of riding you want to do. It is about making that connection with the horse and achieving your personal goals with that horse as a partner. Having both work as a complete unit, a team. Many times I would be given the horse that the trainer could do nothing with or connect the client with the horse. Most of the time the horse would be labeled as “worthless” or not right for the job. It is those times when I would be able to reach that horse and make those connections. Making them see their value and potential.

In the summer of 1990, I went back to school and gained my Associates of Science Degree in Graphic Design. I worked for a time, met my husband, had kids and was back in horses by 2006. I hope to use this acquired skill of communication to accent my business. In August of 2011, we moved to Midlothian Texas for my husbands work. Here is where HorseFeathers Equine Facility, LLC is being launched.  I use the word “Horsefeathers” because it means rubbish, nonsense. I use this in honor of every time I was told a horse couldn’t do something, or wouldn’t amount to anything. As with people, every horse has something to offer someone. They have a purpose if you are open to making that connection. I hope here at HorseFeathers we can help you connect with an equine friend!

Since April of 2012 we have introduced many Morgan rescues to our facility. Two of these Morgans were saved from auction/at risk situations and brought here, rehabbed, and shown to Top Ten at the Morgan Grand Nationals in OKC two years in a row. Now, as of 2014, they can ad one Reserve Championship in the Versatile Morgan Finals. We have brought these Morgans back to the breed shows to help bring awareness to Morgans at risk and to show that just because of their situation the are not washed up throw-aways. These horses still have much to offer and can be very competitive. I want people to understand that it is not necessarily the need to have the multimillion dollar horse to do these shows and be competitive. In our modest and continuously expanding facility, we can help you achieve your goals in a professional manner within the average person’s budget.

In October of 2013 Morgan Safenet was founded with two other strong, like minded women. We have been a voice and advocate of all aspects of the Morgan breed and strong supporters of repurposing...to help before there is a need to rescue.

I hope to utilize this Blog as a bigger voice and share my point of views and experiences to continue to help to promote our breed and provide a network, prevent the need for rescue through assisting owners, trainers, breeders, Amish and Mennonite communities.  I hope to raise awareness, change minds, implement new ideas to help change the future of the Morgan breed.
